Introduction to Configurable Joins
A seven-module asynchronous curriculum designed for beginner and intermediate Slate Users.
Introduction to Configurable Joins is an asynchronous virtual curriculum available to all Users in Duke University's Graduate and Professional School Slate instance.
Slate is a cloud-based SQL database designed to accommodate higher education's unique needs for admissions, student success, and advancement purposes. A recent update gives Slate users unprecedented access to build and customize most of Slate's architecture through a powerful set of tools called "Configurable Joins." The downside of this update is that Configurable Joins are complex and difficult to learn.
Introduction to Configurable Joins is a seven-module course designed to help beginner and intermediate Slate users become more comfortable with Configurable Joins, from its underlying logical foundations to its specific mechanics and features. Each module consists of 1-5 videos and several accompanying practice assignments. The course is generally hosted in Panopto with links in Slate Scholar for ease of access, but is also available on Google Drive at the link provided here.
This course was created as the capstone project for ECI 652 - Field-Based Applications of Learning Design & Technology. My manager suggested this as a suitable project that would be immediately useful to our team and colleagues at Duke University's Graduate School Admissions Office, while also fulfilling the requirements for my final course at NC State.
This course demonstrates my practical video production skillset and how it complements my curriculum design skillset.
